NMDC's Bailadila Projects Excel Amid Pandemic

Hyderabad, India - One of the India's Navratna mining company, National Mineral Development Corporation’s (NMDC) Bailadila Projects at Chhattisgarh, recorded a sharp rise in sales and production in June 2020 as compared to the previous year, in spite of the forced lockdown it was further closed due to various factors for seven days in the earlier month.

Both the units of Bailadila (Bacheli & Kirandul) saw a total production increase of 5 percent in June 2020. As compared to last June when the total production was 17.72 lakh tonnes, this year it was registered as 18.61 lakh tonnes. The Kirandul unit achieved 24 percent higher record sales in June 2020, with 10.47 lakh tonsnes versus 8.47 lakh tonnes of iron ore last year in the same month.

The corporation has implemented all vital measures with every step taken to guarantee employee safety to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, regular monitoring of the personnel at all project sites and offices has allowed to increase the production while ensuring effective protection. 

N Baijendra Kumar, IAS, Chairman & Managing Director, NMDC said, “This is a wonderful achievement in increasing production and sales by the personnel of the Bailadila Projects under adverse and stressful circumstances. The colleagues at Bailadila played an important role in keeping the wheels of the industry running in line with the motto Har ek kaam, Desh ka naam.”
