Accurate Group has spent nearly four reshaping metrology and manufacturing with innovation at its core. Now, with the IMTMA Premier Outstanding Entrepreneur Award in Memory of Vinod Doshi, the company adds yet another milestone to its journey of redefining measurement and quality control.

For Vikram Salunke, Managing Director, Accurate Group, this award isn’t just a mark of achievement; it’s a tribute to years of effort, resilience, and forward thinking. “It is truly an honor to receive this award, and it holds a special place for me and the entire Accurate family,” he shares.

This recognition is especially significant because of its association with Vinod Doshi. “Vinod Doshi was a pioneer who played a key role in shaping the Indian manufacturing sector. Being recognized in his memory is both humbling and inspiring,” he adds.

He sees parallels between his leadership approach and Doshi’s legacy. “Vinod Doshi’s leadership was defined by his foresight, adaptability, and belief in technology-driven growth. I strongly relate to his philosophy of continuously innovating and investing in R&D to stay ahead in a competitive industry,” he says. “Like him, I believe in empowering people, fostering a culture of expertise, and making long-term strategic decisions that drive sustainable growth.”

A Journey of Precision and Progress

Salunke’s journey with Accurate Group began when he was just 20 years old. Over the past 37 years, he has steered the company through defining moments that have shaped its standing on the global stage. “The journey of building Accurate Group has been a fulfilling one, filled with challenges and achievements,” he reflects.

One of the company’s major milestones came in 1991, when it introduced India’s first indigenously built Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) at IMTEX in Mumbai. This breakthrough marked a turning point, demonstrating its ability to develop advanced metrology solutions within the country.

In 1993, the company’s dedication to research and development was acknowledged with its first R&D award. “This milestone not only validated our efforts but also reinforced our commitment to strengthening in-house innovation capabilities, paving the way for future breakthroughs,” says Salunke.

By 1997, the company had expanded beyond domestic borders, exporting its first CMM to the Middle East. “This step into the global market was a testament to our growing expertise and the trust international customers placed in our technology,” he shares.

Over the years, the company has forged strong relationships with key industries such as Automotive, Aerospace, and Electronics. More recently, it has extended its expertise to high-tech sectors. “We have broadened our impact across industries, including the Semiconductor and 3C (Computer, Communication, and Consumer Electronics),” he reveals.

Breaking Barriers in Global Expansion

Taking Indian manufacturing solutions to the international stage came with significant hurdles. “Expanding internationally posed several challenges, including establishing brand credibility in highly competitive global markets, meeting diverse industry regulations, and adapting to different customer expectations,” explains Salunke.

Instead of letting these challenges become roadblocks, the company turned them into opportunities. “We invested heavily in building a strong sales and service network and focused on skill development and customer education to showcase the value of our solutions globally,” he adds.

Leadership & Lessons for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

For Salunke, leadership is about driving change, staying resilient, and creating opportunities for people to grow. “For me, leadership is about pushing boundaries, taking challenges head-on, and fostering an environment where people thrive,” he adds.

His advice to entrepreneurs looking to make an impact in manufacturing and metrology is rooted in real-world experience. “Solve real industry problems by focusing on practical, high-quality solutions,” he emphasizes. He believes that long-term success comes from continuous learning and innovation. “Invest in R&D and skill development—it’s the foundation for long-term success.”

Adaptability, according to Salunke, is just as critical as technical expertise. “Stay adaptable—market needs and technology change rapidly, and the ability to evolve is crucial,” he advises. He also highlights the importance of relationships in business. “Build strong relationships with customers and partners, because trust takes time but is the key to growth.”

Above all, he stresses that quality should never be compromised. “Never compromise on precision and reliability, especially in industries where even the smallest margin of error matters.”

With a strong foundation in place, the company is setting its sights on new frontiers. “At Accurate, we are always looking ahead and planning our next big move,” says Salunke.
