Rolls-Royce Expands India Ties, Plans to Double Sourcing in Five Years

Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC, a well-known multinational aerospace and defence company, has recently announced plans to double its sourcing from India over the next five years, strengthening its supply chain and deepening its presence in the country’s manufacturing and defence sectors. 

Currently, the company sources a wide range of high-precision components for its civil aerospace, defence, and power systems businesses from Indian partners. While Rolls-Royce has not disclosed the overall value of its India-based sourcing, it aims to expand procurement of complex parts for aerospace engines, naval propulsion systems, diesel engines, and gas turbines.

As per Nicola Grady-Smith, Chief Transformation Officer, Rolls-Royce, India is fast emerging as a global sourcing hub. He further added that the company is committed to broadening its partnerships to support business growth and India’s ‘Make in India for the world’ initiative. The company has a long-standing presence in India, working with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), Tata, Bharat Forge, Godrej & Boyce, and Force Motors. It employs over 2,000 skilled engineers contributing to global development programs. 

Alex Zino, Executive VP, Business Development and Future Programmes, Rolls-Royce (Defence), emphasized India’s strategic importance in defence, highlighting its role in advancing co-production and self-reliance. Rolls-Royce integrates technology transfer methods into its operations to enhance local manufacturing capabilities and ecosystem development and positioning India as an essential global defence and aerospace manufacturing force.
