At IMTEX 25, MGT introduces the VDG 600, a Vertical Double Disc Grinding Machine, which has been developed to fulfil the market demand for grinding two surfaces simultaneously with automatic wheel positioning and dressing compensation with a CNC system.
The MGT Vertical Double Disc Grinding Machine is a high-performance, compact, and high-speed CNC-controlled precision grinder. It is designed for simultaneously grinding two parallel surfaces of flat metallic parts such as valve plates, piston rings, bearing races, oil pump vanes, impellers, and seals.
The machine features a rigid, fabricated machine bed structure that has been stress-relieved to provide high static and dynamic rigidity. This design facilitates the easy flow of coolant and grinding dust. Equipped with high-precision, anti-friction wheel head spindles running in a combination of double-direction angular thrust bearings and double cylindrical roller bearings, it ensures high stability and rigidity of the grinding head.
The VDG 600 Precision Double Disc Grinding Machine includes a hydraulically operated swing-arm type wheel dresser with infinitely variable speed and hydraulic lock. It can accommodate a maximum grinding wheel size of f600 mm and 50 mm in width. The two grinding wheel spindles are powered by 22 kW motors, providing robust performance.
Additionally, the wheel surface speed is 33 m/s, ensuring efficient material removal and high-speed grinding. Versatility is another key feature of the VDG 600, as it is adaptable to a wide range of applications across various industries with a customized carrier plate. The VDG 600 design supports a flexible automation concept for a high production rate and includes provisions for a post-process gauge to ensure job conformity. The machine features full guarding and an ergonomically designed, flexible operator pendant that can be operated from multiple positions.

Precision Infeed Axis: The spindle infeed system features a heavy-duty screw and nut arrangement with a quill sleeve feed design, providing enhanced rigidity and precision. This configuration ensures a high degree of responsiveness of up to 0.001 mm.
