The MWR120G from Murata Machinery, Ltd. (Muratec) is an innovative, front-facing, horizontal twin-spindle CNC live tool chucker with a large Y-axis stroke of +/- 60 mm, designed for core automation. With Y-axis and live tooling capabilities, it efficiently processes complex shapes, eliminating the need for changeovers or secondary operations.
This machine is equipped with a chuck size capability of both 6” and 8”. The built-in spindle, with a power of 7.5/11 kW, supports both X and Z-axis traverse. The turret comes with 10 stations as standard, with a 12-station option available. The machine features roller guides for high stability and a beltless structure for minimal maintenance. Additionally, the live tools are driven by direct drive servo motors.
An industry-first, the front chucker design with Y-axis capability enables precise handling of complex shapes with unprecedented flexibility. The live tool motor offers 5.5 kW of power and includes high-torque and high-speed live tool options, with speeds of up to 8,000 RPM. The machine’s built-in gantry automation, available in single or dual gantry configurations (MWR120GT), further enhances its versatility for diverse processing needs. The loader can handle workpieces with dimensions of Ø 120 mm x 80 mm.
Applications that can normally be carried out with multiple machines like turning and vertical milling machines in high production runs, can be consolidated with the MWR120G. With single gantry or twin gantry options, this machine is suitable for the automotive and non-automotive industries. A few examples of the applications include head covers, hydraulic parts, medical parts, fuel nozzles and many more.
