Cinisello Balsamo, Italy – UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the Italian machine tools, robots, and automation systems manufacturers’ association, UCIMU Foundation, and EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE, organizer of 34.BI-MU, with the support of Fiera Milano Foundation, present ROBOTGAMES. ROBOTGAMES is the new contest of robotics and automation, addressed to young students from scientific high schools, technical-technological institutes, and professional schools. It is designed to stimulate young people to try their hand at making robot automation prototypes with application to the world of industry.

The key players in the contest will be young people from upper secondary schools (belonging to scientific high schools, technical-technological institutes, and professional institutes) organized in teams. Each team must include between 2 and 5 students and be coordinated by a teacher. The prototypes eligible to compete in ROBOTGAMES must involve the integration of at least two technical disciplines, including mechanics, automation, electronics, physics, and mathematics-informatics. They should be able to perform different tasks and respond to different commands, such as, for example, moving objects, detecting elements in the field, moving in space, etc. An essential requisite for the admission of a prototype to the contest is its industrial application.

ROBOTGAMES is promoted by UCIMU Academy, an initiative that groups together all the activities carried out by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, with the aim of bringing young people closer to the world of the manufacturing industry, whose digital transformation is in full progress. Sponsored by UCIMU Foundation and with the contribution of Fiera Milano Foundation, ROBOTGAMES makes its debut in 2024, the year in which 34.BI-MU is scheduled to take place at fieramilano Rho from October 9-12: the international biennial exhibition of machine tools, robotics, automation, digital, and additive manufacturing will host the final stage of the contest.

Besides the trade show, proposing machines and production systems displayed according to 8 exhibition themes—among which RobotHeart for robots, piùAdditive for additive manufacturing, and BI-MU Digital for digital technologies stand out—the event will present a special project dedicated to education, whose real novelty will be ROBOTGAMES.

On Friday, October 11, the final stage will see a competition among the 10 best projects submitted, which will be held in an area dedicated to ROBOTGAMES and set up in one of the halls of 34.BI-MU. The judging committee will select the top 3 winners, who will be awarded during an ad hoc ceremony in the BI-MUpiù Arena at 34.BI-MU on Saturday, October 12.

The prizes for a total of €20,000, made available by EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE, will be divided among the three winning teams. In-depth information, official announcement, contest registration form, and all details on content and how to participate are available at ucimu.it at the link https://www.ucimu.it/academy/robotgames/

The deadline to apply for the contest is March 8, 2024.
