Pimpri-Chinchwad, India – Sandvik Coromant, the metal cutting expert inaugurated its third ‘Green Model School’ and Balwadi. Based in Pimpri Chinchwad, Maharashtra, the Kamla Nehru Hindi Primary School has undergone a holistic revamp to create a Green Model school that aims to enhance the quality of education for over 400 students.
In partnership with Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Thinksharp Foundation, through the Green Model School Project, Sandvik Coromant has facilitated the development of its third Green Model Government school, Balwadi. The transformation includes solar panels for better energy efficiency, independent libraries in each classroom to improve literacy skills, digital infrastructure, including computers, and other educational aids, including toys.
Besides this, Sandvik Coromant has also updated the interior of the school by adding vibrant aesthetics, including paintings and murals on the walls, encouraging creativity and engagement among students. The company has also assigned dedicated staff to teach computer skills and promote digital education among both students and teachers. The school’s inauguration took place on February 1, 2024, with the presence of Shekhar Singh (IAS), Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC); Kiran Acharya, Managing Director and CFO, Sandvik Coromant India; and Government officials, school staff, and the Sandvik Coromant India Team.
In the summer of 2023, Sandvik Coromant inaugurated its second Green Model school located in Malegaon Village, demonstrating its commitment to enhance the learning quality of children in India. “Sandvik Coromant has created a space that will not only inspire, but nurture students to develop a dedicated approach towards STEM subjects,” said the Managing Director and CFO of Sandvik Coromant India. “Primary education lays the foundation of a student’s future. It equips them for further educational pursuits, and in today’s modern world, it’s essential for children to have an environment that fosters their aspirations and creates hope for their future.”
Acharya continued, “With our continued vision to support a greater quality of education, Sandvik Coromant strongly believes that these improvements will have a positive impact on the academic growth of the students, setting them up for a successful future. By being exposed to environmental and digital initiatives at the first states in education, we hope that they learn by example and carry it into their futures.”
