San Sebastian Gears Up for 23rd National Advanced and Digital Manufacturing Congress

San Sebastian, Spain – Advanced Manufacturing and Machine-Tool Congress, in its 23rd edition, will take place from October 25-27, 2023, at the Gipuzkoa Science and Technology Park in San Sebastian. The country’s first ever technology congress, which was first held in 1976, has become a benchmark event in the area of advanced and digital manufacturing. In addition to the state-of-the-art technical and scientific perspective that has characterized the congress from the start, it has taken on a global vision, tackling matters such as disruptive advanced manufacturing technologies, the factory of the future, robotics and automation, additive manufacturing, attracting and managing talent for manufacturing, the safety of persons and machines in smart industry, the challenges of the main industrial sectors, and sustainability.

Moreover, as a new addition this year, alongside the advanced and digital manufacturing congress, a machine safety congress will also be held, featuring all the latest in this field. During 23CMH, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy product exhibitions and service promotions relating to advanced manufacturing and machine tools. There will also be round tables, debates, and B2B meetings to promote networking and create new collaboration opportunities among the participants. This year, the event will be attended by top companies such as Microsoft, Telefónica, Cipherbit, Siemens, IBM, Renishaw, Aernnova, Gestamp, Petronor, Renfe, Fagor Automation, Tecnalia, Danobatgroup, and Airbus, to name but a few. The event will also feature expert speakers from the main areas of innovation in disruptive technologies, digitalization, sustainability, and talent management. The opening session on October 25 will be presided over by Iñigo Urkullu, President of the Basque Government, and participants will include Iñaki Gabilondo, a prestigious journalist and communicator, and Pedro Miguel Etxenike, a renowned scientist, who will share a conversation on the challenges posed by technological advancements for present and future society.

The closing ceremony, to be held on October 27, will include the awards presentation: one prize for the best project presented by a company; another for the best communication presented by a technical-scientific community; a third for the best technical college thesis; and a fourth for the best presentation made in Basque. The last edition, held in October 2019, brought together 460 attendees and over 100 presentations were made. In terms of participating companies, key guest companies at past editions include Berger Group, Siemens, ISG Virtous, HP, GF Precicast Additive, Danobatgroup, Loire Gestamp, CAF, Gonvarri or Valeo; and some keynote speakers included Francisco Riberas, Alex Rovira, Luis Montero, Tomas Hahn, and Terry Wohlers, among others.
