Dear Readers,
India has made a monumental stride in space technology with the successful launch of Chandrayaan 3. The world is now considering India as one of the leading countries in space technology. Along with advancing scientific research, India is also expanding its commercial operations in the Space sector involving the launching of satellites, joint exploration of resources on the moon and other planets, and providing space-related services to various nations.
The Indian space ecosystem is expanding with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) planning to bring in private players to build satellites and launch vehicles. It is safe to presume that there are significant opportunities in store for Indian machine tool builders to contribute to the growth of the Space sector.
The current edition of Modern Manufacturing India (MMI) focuses on the Space sector and the opportunities that would emerge for the Machine Tool industry to engage more closely with the Indian Space sector. I hope that the articles published in this edition of MMI will bring new knowledge and perspective to you. And, as always, I seek your valuable feedback which will help us to improve further.
