HSD Showcases Next-Gen Electrospindle Models and IoT Platform at EMO 2023

Frankfurt, Germany – HSD SpA, a leading provider of mechatronic solutions, is all set to showcase its latest innovations at the most important trade fair for the worldwide manufacturing industry, scheduled to take place in Hanover from September 18 to 23, 2023. The biennial international event dedicated to the manufacturing industry is the starting point for innovations, important discussions, and new business partnerships in this sector.

Under the slogan ‘Innovate Manufacturing’, the fair is a unique opportunity to discover the latest technology trends in manufacturing, developed to accelerate production modernization processes. In fact, when it comes to international competition, there are a multitude of challenges for European manufacturing companies nowadays. With the careful use of digitization, however, including artificial intelligence in combination with robotics and other automation solutions, it’s possible to make significant leaps in productivity to guarantee increasingly stable competitiveness.

This is where the mechatronic solutions developed by the company, which will be presented at the EMO fair in Hannover (Hall 12, Stand A16), come into play.

In fact, the German event will be an unmissable opportunity to get an exclusive preview of the new ES1020 and ES1040 electrospindle models, developed by the company to complement the ES10 Line. As the result of technological advancement and continuous collaboration between the company's engineering team and its customers based on their requirements, these new electrospindle models are able to adapt to the multiple needs of users and the ever-increasing pace sought by today’s market.

In line with the future trends of digitization and Industry 4.0, the company will also present a preview of a special ‘connecting device’ which, from now on, can be installed on the range of electro spindles dedicated to metalworking, allowing them to be connected to the ‘myHSD IoT platform’ via a series of sensors.

The connecting device developed by the company therefore follows the leitmotiv of the event, helping to ‘innovate manufacturing’ and making production processes more efficient and effective, increasing productivity and quality while minimizing errors and machine downtime.

The ‘myHSD platform’, until now only available for the ES9Line of electrospindles for processing wood and plastics, was purposely developed with the aim of “providing our customers with a wide range of benefits such as reduced maintenance costs, data analysis in real time to obtain useful information (improving the customer’s knowledge of how the electrospindle is used), and the supply of information essential for research and development, to improve processes and optimize maintenance through timely notifications and troubleshooting wizards,” explains Fabrizio Pierini, General Manager, HSD.

In practice, myHSD monitors the state of the electrospindle via innovative e-Core sensor technology, which, combined with algorithms on the platform and the device, supplies the user with prompt notifications about replacements to be made, thus maximizing machine uptime. The HUB function, patented by the company, allows information (including process data, statistical values, and the machining center status) to be transferred from the machine tool to the platform. Thanks to this function, the potential of myHSD can be exploited not only on the spindle but also on the machine, providing the operator with a complete overview of the entire system and enabling an enhanced capacity for analysis, thereby guaranteeing a sharp reduction in potential financial loss.

“The installation of the connecting device on HSD electrospindles dedicated to metalworking is therefore a golden chance to benefit from the advantages of a high-performance combination,” says Massimiliano Sanna, Product Director, HSD. The connection of the electrospindle to the myHSD platform in fact combines the performance of the spindle with the possibility to capture all the data it can transmit remotely, allowing real-time monitoring of the spindle status during machining operations.

HSD’s technological solutions serve the industry 4.0 revolution, simplifying processes and improving its customers’ competitiveness on the market. “EMO is once again a valuable global showcase for HSD, allowing us to demonstrate to trade fair visitors the practicality of the technologies we develop,” asserts Filomena Carletti, Marketing Manager, HSD. “The stand will be displaying many technologies, which, along with the expertise of HSD's technical and sales staff, will help visitors find concrete solutions and meet the daily needs of those working in the sector.”
