HANNOVER MESSE to Mark In-Person Presence of Indonesian President Joko Widodo

Hannover, Germany – HANNOVER MESSE’s this year’s partner country, Indonesia, has confirmed that Indonesian President Joko Widodo will attend the world’s leading industrial trade fair and speak at the opening ceremony.  on April 16, 2023. In addition, he and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will participate in the fair’s traditional Chancellor’s Tour the following day, Monday (the opening day).

The Indonesian President and leaders of the International Partners Group (IPG) launched the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) at the meeting in Bali. The Group also includes the United States, Japan, Denmark, the European Union, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, and Norway, in addition to Germany. Based on this partnership, Indonesia intends to develop an investment strategy to achieve its ambitious climate protection goals, making it the world’s fourth most populous country, a highly relevant buyer of energy and industrial technology, and a potential customer for companies exhibiting at HANNOVER MESSE.

Indonesia is on the mend after the pandemic, with an economic growth rate of more than 5 percent. The primary cause of this is the high cost of raw materials: Indonesian coal, palm oil, nickel, and rubber are fetching record prices on global markets in some cases. Indonesia’s goal, on the other hand, is to attract more labor-intensive manufacturing to the country. Following the liberalization of investment and labor law, international investors now have more options. Indonesia will use its presence at HANNOVER MESSE to attract more foreign business, with over 150 Indonesian companies already committed to exhibiting at the world’s leading industrial trade fair.
