Seco High Feed SP Milling Systems Handle Challenging Materials

Pune, India and Fagersta, Sweden – Seco Tools’ new next-generation High Feed SP milling system incorporates dedicated cutting geometries and insert grades, as well as optimized lead angles, which work together to boost material removal rates, maximize chip evacuation, and extend tool life to overcome the challenges of milling ISO P, M, and S materials. One High Feed SP tool is capable of handling a wide range of high feed milling operations and materials. To further reduce tooling inventories, the tool optimizes operations such as copy milling, ramping, pocketing, face milling, and plunging. Users improve milling performance by removing the requirement to switch between multiple tools to adopt different machining strategies and part materials.

The durable High Feed SP milling tools are designed for ease of use with simple failsafe insert indexing that prevents operator errors, unplanned machine downtime, and scrapped parts. Users can also rapidly get product information by scanning the Seco data matrix code. The company provides a wide selection of High Feed SP tool sizes. SP10 consists of two geometries, ten grades, dia 32 to 63mm + inch equivalents; SP14 consists of two geometries, ten grades, dia 50 to 100mm + inch equivalents; and SP18 consists of two geometries, ten grades, dia 63 to 160mm + inch equivalents.

Explaining that premature tool wear increases job costs and leads to unexpected machine downtime that lengthens production time, Benoît Patriarca, Global Product Manager, High Feed Milling, Seco Tools, commented, “The combination of dedicated cutting geometries and grades with optimized leading angles of the High Feed SP system allow for faster machining to shorten job turnaround times, while also providing a superior price-to-performance ratio.”
