Frankfurt am Main, Germany – VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association) and the Schleiftagung grinding conference organizers signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on mutual support for their respective grinding events.
“Our collaboration is a great opportunity to support fruitful interaction between the very latest research in grinding technology and the international high-tech industry during the Schleiftagung grinding conference, to promote it at the trade fair, and thus to underline Germany’s advantages as a business location,” said Dr Sebastian Barth, Organizer, Schleiftagung and Senior Engineer, Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL), RWTH Aachen University. To this, Dr Wilfried Schäfer, Executive Director, GrindingHub Organizer, added, “GrindingHub, the new hub for grinding technology in Stuttgart, aims to bring all the major names in grinding together in one place. On January 26-27, the WZL hosted the Schleiftagung grinding conference for the first time. The long-running event, which was based at Hanser Verlag for 18 years and took place in Fellbach near Stuttgart, was organized from Aachen. Due to the pandemic, it was held digitally and featured high-caliber speakers from universities and companies across the country. The two-day program centered on sustainability and the role that grinding technology can play in resource conservation. It also covered the most recent grinding technical trends, such as process and function design, increased efficiency in high-speed grinding, and the use of digital grinding tools.
