New Delhi, India – Vedanta Aluminium Business, India’s largest producer of aluminium and value-added products, introduced High-Speed Billets to the global extrusion industry at a virtual event attended by participants from the downstream and extrusion industries. As part of its Customer Technical Service cell, the company’s global experts on billet extrusion shared a slew of initiatives for an unparalleled customer experience.
Vedanta is India’s largest manufacturer and exporter of high-quality aluminium billets, which are used in the extrusion process in Building & Construction, Solar/Renewable Energy, Automotive, Electrical, and a variety of other industries. Extrusion is a process that involves pushing material through a die to create objects with a fixed cross-section profile. It also produces an excellent surface finish and allows for a lot of form freedom during the design process.
Vedanta Aluminium’s High-Speed Billets are made with the utmost engineering precision and are part of the company’s billet portfolio. These billets were made using best-in-class global technologies such as the Wagstaff Hot-Top Air Slip Casting System (USA) and the Hertwich Continuous Homogenising Furnace (Austria). Depending on the extrusion environment, Vedanta’s High-Speed Billets can increase extrusion speed by up to 25 percent. These billets exhibit exceptional extrusion speed without compromising the strength of the extruded profile, thanks to superior metallurgical properties brought about by stringent process control and optimized chemistry. With these products, both process recovery and die life have significantly improved.
Vedanta is focusing its efforts on R&D, bringing together Technical, Operations, and Marketing expertise in a Centre of Excellence to invent the next big thing in aluminium, as aluminium is a dynamic and rapidly evolving industry with potential for greater applications in a sustainability-conscious world. Vedanta’s value-added product portfolio is constantly being expanded by the introduction of customer-centric products and next-generation technologies.
Customers’ quality and technical requirements for existing and new products are anchored by Vedanta’s Customer Technical Services cell. “Vedanta Aluminium has a robust and quality-focused manufacturing,” added Jonathan Pangborn, a global billet-extrusion expert working with Vedanta’s Customer Technical Services cell, “Our Customer Technical Service team is ready to adapt our customized product portfolio to the extrusion industry's changing needs.
