Boise, US – Micron Technology, Inc, a global leader in the semiconductor industry, has been named one of the 2021 Best Workplaces in Manufacturing and Production by Fortune magazine and its research partner Great Place to Work. The recognition reflects the company’s success in creating an engaging culture of innovation where team members are seen, heard, valued, and respected, illuminating the company’s commitments to diversity, equality, and inclusion. Honorees are also acknowledged for their ability to be competitive in the global marketplace, which was especially important during the pandemic when worker well-being was critical.
Micron employs more than 60 percent of its workforce at 13 manufacturing sites worldwide. Throughout the pandemic, the company’s acute focus on safety and well-being allowed its manufacturing team to continue delivering essential memory and storage solutions to the market. To keep team members safe, the company was among the first in the industry to implement safety protocols and procedures such as thermal scanning, digital contact tracing, and onsite testing. Furthermore, each company’s manufacturing site established its remote-operations control center, which used automation and augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) solutions to assist in tool installation and maintenance when suppliers, engineers, and technicians could not be physically present.
Great Place to Work is the world’s leading authority on creating, sustaining, and recognizing High-Trust, High-Performance Culture at workplaces. The award for the Best Workplaces in Manufacturing and Production is based on an analysis of survey responses from over 220,000 current employees. Micron’s results in that survey are 9 percent higher than the average US company. The company has recently been named to the Great Place to Work lists of Best Workplaces in China, Germany, Japan, Italy, Singapore, and Taiwan. The company was also named a Best Workplace in Asia by Great Place to Work.
